Responsibilities and Duties

  • Drive a regular route on school days.
  • Must read / understand street signs, route sheets and maps.
  • Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including child checks.
  • Cooperate and communicate with all staff, school personnel, parents, and students in a professional manner.
  • Attend all required safety and training meetings.
  • Conduct emergency evacuation from the bus, including exiting from the emergency doors.
  • Open and close service doors and move up and down steps multiple times daily.
  • Maintain a clean bus including sweeping, dusting, and cleaning interior/ exterior windows.
  • SPED - Assists students with loading/unloading; maintain proficiency in the safe operation of the hydraulic wheelchair lift apparatus and securing wheelchairs as applicable (training provided).
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • A valid driver’s license
  • A valid CDL with proper endorsements or ability to obtain
  • Pass a drug test, DOT physical and background screening
  • Basic knowledge of radio dispatch equipment, excellent communications, and customer service skills

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assists a regular route on school days.
  • Must read / understand street signs, route sheets and maps.
  • Supervise and assist students in transit or crossing of streets.
  • Moves or assists in moving students whose mobility is impaired by their special needs.
  • Monitor and assist students to ensure comfort, safety, and orderly conduct of all students on the bus.
  • Facilitates the loading and unloading process.
  • Assists with implementation of individual student plans for appropriate conduct on bus as recommended by bus driver, teacher and/or other staff.
  • Demonstrates professional, safe, and responsible behavior.
  • Communicates and works effectively with department staff, school personnel, students, parents, and the public.
  • Check the bus immediately after each trip to be sure no students remain on the bus.
  • Attend all required safety and training meetings.
  • Conduct emergency evacuations.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean vehicle.
  • Assists students with loading/unloading; maintain proficiency in the safe operation of securing car seats, booster seats, and seat belts.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Special Needs Chaperone additional duties

  • Delivers Special Needs students to appropriate responsible party.
  • Maintains proficiency in the safe operation of the hydraulic lift apparatus and securing the wheelchairs as applicable.

 

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Pass a drug test and background screening

Physical Requirements

  • Climbing on and off a bus or van, bending and squatting to assist students as needed, sitting for extended periods, walking up and down the bus aisle to check students, seats, and exits. This will require some periods of exposure to elements.
  • Capable of assisting and moving students whose mobility is impaired and any student as necessary.

$19.25 / hour

Vision supports local school districts by offering trip transportation for school athletic and academic programs.

Driving sports teams to events is a great way to earn some extra money. Set set your own schedule, weekdays and weekend trips available.

$1,250.00 Sign-On bonus for fully licensed CDL school bus-endorsed drivers with air brakes.
